war child 2013 003-w800-h600Park School children had a fascinating visitor come to their school this week. Jacqui Cousins, who helped to found the charity War Child, came to personally thank the children for the money they raised at their harvest apple day café which came to a grand total of £200. She told the children some interesting facts about her own childhood in the second world war and explained to the children what their money will be spent on. The children asked Jacqui many searching questions and she helped them to realise how what an important difference they had made to children in war torn areas of the world. We talked about what it must have been like in the wars in the UK and what other countries are trying to do to help children. Jacqui used puppets to illustrate her points. It was a moving and important meeting.
