Sand Sculpture

chartwell jan 2014 019-w800-h600I discovered this branch covered in beautiful ribbons and surrounded by daffodils in our sand pit. A child had found the ribbons we use to wish the apple orchard a good harvest in May. They had been blown off in the wind and had collected along with a fallen apple branch. It was such a beautiful sculpture that had just happened through play in a lunch break. The attention and focus that it must have taken just shows how important it is to allow children time to really complete a project that they are interested in. Time and space to discover and dream is essential to creative growth.
