Trip to Houses of Parliament
Trip to Houses of Parliament We were kindly invited to visit the Houses of Parliament by Sarah Woolaston MP when she found out that we have some democratic values within the human scale ethos of the school. She arranged for the children to have a special tour where they went into the House of Commons and the House of Lords. We were not allowed to sit down though as this is a special privilege for those who officially attend. The children visited the stunning state rooms and were told about the history of the various kings and prime ministers through looking at the art and acting out stories. They also learnt about what it means to be in government and the opposition. It was a very fascinating trip and I know of at least one child who has been inspired to try to become an MP now!
