Christmas boxes!

The children have been part of a project called The Samaritans Purse. They each made a Christmas box filled with toys, clothes, stationary, sweets and other goodies which will be sent to children in Africa and Europe who would not get anything at Christmas. The children were asked to look in their own toy cupboards to give away something of their own as well as buying new things. The boxes were collected on 11th November 2011. We had a special assembly dedicated to Remembrance Day and within that we talked to the children about the idea that it is so important to remember what happens in the wars but that the way that they can make a difference is to spread peace. They were encouraged to do things in a peaceful way all day and imagine filling their boxes with peace as they gave them away.
