Would you like to become a member of our Council of Management?
We are looking for a new Non-Parent member of the Council of Management at Park School. The Council covers the governance of the school, ensures our funds are spent wisely and is an opportunity to play an important role in our very special community of children, parents, carers and staff.
Park School has been providing a different kind of education on the Dartington Hall estate based around human scale principles for 32 years. Children’s experience, relationships and happiness are the cornerstones of our practice, and we build their education around this. We are currently reflecting on our own experience of leading the school, so you will join us at an exciting time when curriculum, approach and the model of leadership across the school are all up for discussion.
Some information to help you think about the role can be found :
on our website
the association of governing bodies of independent schools (AGBIS)
A role description is available from the school office. This has recently been revised and gives greater guidance about the expectations on you. The Council is not simply a support for the school, responsible for the appointment of the teacher-in-charge. It is a focused and challenging catalyst for children’s learning, safety and welfare and the development of the staff team and school as a whole.
An application form is available from the school office, to give us a sense of context, who you are and what you bring to the school; we are interested in how your experience has shaped you and what you hope to bring to Park School to add value to our Council of Management. We are looking to broaden the spectrum of our council members, but also have a particular interest in people with human resources, finance, or legal skills and/or previous experience of working with/as a school governor or chair.
This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
The closing date for applications is 3pm, 30th April 2019. We will shortlist applications that week and contact you to arrange an informal interview on the afternoon or evening of 9th May. If you are likely to be unavailable all or part of this time, please let us know and we will try to work around you. Your first Council meeting would then be Monday 13th May at 7pm.
Thank you for your interest. If you would like to talk more about Park School and how we operate, please do not hesitate to contact me for an informal discussion. I very much hope to hear from you.
