Maths

Maths for younger children is very practical - for example dividing their break time fruit into fractions and patterns and thenof course eating it! For older children maths may be linked with the topic for the term and is always taught in the most practical way possible, for example recording plant growth in the garden or making a cart to help the cook transport the lunch!

Children are taught strategies to work out problems and as their understanding develops they begin to record their maths in both informal and formal ways as they progressively tackle the different areas of mathematics.
